Subject: They call us "The God Squad" ...Literally
Hey I haven't been doing very good at keeping you guys informed about how the work is going here in California, so I will try to give you a brief overview of each of our investigators really quick. We have eight really good investigators (Seven of which we didn't even know six weeks ago, so our finding has been really good)
Al - In answer to dad's question, Al is doing great. He is the strongest convert I have seen and he didn't even know what the church was four months ago. It has been great to see him change soo much since I got here in November. I will have the oppurtunity to go on exchanges with him in a couple weeks, and he will be able to teach others what he has been taught.
Billy - Sad news. This morning Billy called to let us know that he will not be able to get off parole for another year, and thus he cannot get baptized. He was doing soo great and they were trying soo hard to get him off parole a year early. Well he is pretty much a member already other than his Word of Wisdom problems. He even has a calling. He is also the one that calls us the God Squad. We just challenged him to read the whole book of Mormon, one chapter a day. You should do the same.
Casy - A member referral who is a seventh day Adventist. He is very intimidating especially now without Elder Rick or a companion who I can lean on. Elder Boody and I are both soo young. But we avoid talking about the Sabbath and try to let the spirit work. He even said if we worshipped on Saturday he would be a Mormon.
Trent - we don't hear much from him but he came from tracting and has a lot of questions so we are trying really hard with him.
Roger - Stands about six foot six and weighs probably about three hundred pound, but he is just like a great big teddy bear. We also tracted into him a while ago and are trying to get him to church. He doesn't see much urgency so it is hard. I think he knows it's true. It has been hard for us to find a fellowshipper because we don't have any bikers in the ward.
Vikki - I have told you a little about. Last week we committed her to church and she said she would ask her boss if he would rearrange her schedule. Sweeeeet!
Leon - He is a beat mixer who has a problems with African Americans and the priesthood. Any ideas would be great. Other than that he is awesome. We are trying to get him the perfect fellowshipper because my zone leader promised me that there was someone in my ward that would be able to bring him into the gospel. I know it's true, we just have to find out who.
Janet - Miracle of the week. We were having a horrible day last Wednesday and we were tracting to make it worse. We were cold and tired and someone had just finished yelling at us, so we almost gave up early. We decided to stick it out, and on one of the very last houses we met Janet. She let us right in and we taught her the Restoration. Two days later we took her on a chapel tour with another member. They are now best friends. Then she came to church and loved it! She still has a lot of concerns but I think she will be all right because we just taught her the second lesson this morning with her fellowshipper and new friend. The already have plans to meet and she told me she planned on continuing to come to church.
My companion is great. He is from Virginia and he came out with me in November. We both have a lot to work on, but it's great that we still both have our Greenie Fire!
Well I love you all! Stay true
