Ryan’s Letter:
Subject: Transfers!!
Hello There!
Well shocking news came just about an hour ago. Elder Smith is getting transferred and My new companion is Elder Groberg! (I remember asking him forever ago if her was related to John Groberg, I think he is but it is distant. I don't remember for sure though so I will let you know next week. I am pretty excited right now. I was actually afraid I was going to get transfered after my exchange with the assistants last week but I'm so happy to be staying.
We had an amazing week this week. Well I guess I better just say that I did, I was on exchanges outside of our area most of the week. We had a lot of success every day. My favorite was probably with Elder Bailey in Nevada City on Saturday. We started out visiting a lot of former investigators and had quite a few of them that said they wanted to stat coming back to church again. After visiting one in particular we were about to get back in the car when I noticed a group of people out on their driveway a couple of houses down the road. We started walking towards them but they disappeared behind one of the cars. As we got closer I called out so we wouldn't startle them as we rounded the vehicle. Just as I did I heard someone say my name and Kelly Oster came running out. She was one of the girls that got baptized in the Rocklin Singles Ward that I got to teach almost 6 months ago! It turned out to be her fathers home. I can't imagine the chances that I would run into her the one day that I was clear out in Nevada City and she was visiting form Rocklin. She is the one in the second picture.
Later on in the day we were walking down main street talking to all of the tourist and shop owners when a man with a ukulele called us over. He was a musician for a restaurant and he was trying to get us to eat their. We couldn't because we already had a lunch appointment but he took us in anyway. He showed us around and took us up to where all of his instruments are and played us a song. By then a the customers had noticed us there, but he asked if I could play the guitar. I told him I knew a little and for the next 30 minutes he gave me free guitar lesson in front of everyone. At the end he just let me free-style it and he played back round to make me sound good. It was pretty sweet, except now I have a huge blister.
Anyway I better head out, but I love you all and hope you have a great week!
