Subject: Missionary's Weekend of Dreams!
Hello there Everyone!
So before I begin I just want to share with you all something that Elder Groberg taught me today. You all know how in most sports they try to put together to perfect team right? The Dream Team. Well imagine a missionary force comprised of only the best missionaries. Elder Groberg showed me "The Dream Team" today found in Alma 31 in the Book of Mormon. Wow, it it sooo amazing....Alma is inspired to lead a mission to the Zoramites so he gathers his friends Ammon, Aaron, and Omner; then he calls for his former companion Amulek and the former anti-Christ Zeezrom; then he completes the group by throwing in his own two sons Shiblon and Corianton. Their team is stacked! Those poor Zoramites don't stand a chance. As you study the scriptures and learn about what each of these men have already accomplished in their lives it is incredible. The force of the spirit that they must have had with them would have been amazing to experiance. Anyway I just thought it was a cool little Book of Mormon chapter to throw in there.
I hope you all enjoyed conference! I sure did!!! I spent the past three months pulling the last conference ensign apart and now I can't wait to get the next issue. There were definitely some great talks in there and quite a few that I felt were put there just for me. I really like how Elder Anderson talked a little bit about how there is no collaboration of themes in preparation for conference; it is all done the Lord's way, inspiration.
Let's see, here are some highlights from my notes:
President Monson: Did you all notice the specific call given each of us from the Prophet. We are all to reach out to any and every new member and less-active who is returning to church. Remember it is a call from the Prophet so you have to do it. :)
Elder Mckullin: We must strive to develop Christlike attributes and especially learn to pray. Not just say prayers, pray! I can really notice a difference when I am praying and just saying a prayer. I love having the Spirit direct the words and thought of my prayers. God answers every prayer!
Elder Eyring: A ward has the ability to save souls and help them return to God. As I thought about that statement I realized that is really what happened to me, it wasn't one specific event, but is was one huge rescue effort put on by family, church leaders, and inspired speakers and teachers that got me out here on a mission.
Learn what we should learn.
Do what we should do.
Be what we should be.
Elder Bednar: 1 - Read and talk regularly about the Book of Mormon.
2 - Share your testimony spontaneously
3 - Invite to act, not be acted upon.
Elder Holland: As always, an amazing talk. Learn to overcome temptations, by learning how to truly love! He had a great way of attacking the root of the problem.
Those who didn't get to watch the Priesthood session really need to do it. In particular go read Elder Uchtdorf's talk on patience and then Elder Rondald Rasband's. Then read all of them.
Elder Uchtdorf: $20 bills are always worth 20 dollars no matter how wrinkled and worn. Love is the great commandment, First you were loved by God and then you must love others. If you can learn to love you will be happier. Strive to allow others to feel Christ's love through you.
Well that is all I have time for but I thought they were all great! And on top of all of that, Paulette passed her baptismal interview so we are all set for Friday! Life is still great out here and I hope all is well wherever you are.
Buenas Noches!
Elder Allred
