Ryan's Letter:
Subject: Happy Halloween! I want to be a Fairy!
Dear to my Family,
Transfers! They descided to email us the transfers today rather than just calling us, so all of our missionaries were bugging us all morning because we couldn't check our email. But we finally did and Elder Spear is leaving me. I really thought he would be the companion I would have for three transfers, but I am really excited to get Elder Haines as my new companion. I don't know If I have told you anything about him, but he was my zone leader while I was in Roseville. I love him, we are going to have a blast together.
Last Monday after I emailed, I got a call from Frank Parker and I am pretty sure he was trying to drop us. After talking to him for a while though I'm pretty sure he just chickened out so we are still teaching him, but it wil be a slow process. Valerie and her boys were sick this week so we haven't seen them in a while.
We got a call from a family in Lincoln this week who had one of their friends for us to teach. His name is Garret Tharp and unfortunately he lives out side of our Zone. But we will have the chance to teach him for a while at least. He is dating a member of the church and has been personally studying the Book of Mormon for about a month. Along with that he has already read Our Search For Happiness and most of the Gospel principles book. He grew up with one parent as a Catholic and the other a Protestant. So he was forced to go back and forth between the two churchs during the week; he really knows the Bible very well. As we met with him for the first time on Saturday, he described to us his study of our church. Every day he reads about our beliefs, then turns to our Heavenly Father in prayer and seeks revelation as to it's truthfullness. He knows the Book of Mormon is true through the power of prayer, and we haven't even taught him anything! He came to the singles ward yesterday and really enjoyed it. The best part is that he relly recognizes the big picture. He wants to go to the temple and continue to grow spiritualy. He is like a sponge and just wants to learn everything, and he does. But he knows the most important knowledge is that which comes from God. Cool huh?
We had a pretty big storm out here in Loomis and a lot of people lost their power. Sister Moss's power stayed on, but we lit a fire in the wood stove anyway. That felt soo good. One of our lessons with Kevin Duff and Matt Strock in the evening had no power in thier home. We had one of the coolest experiances that night as we taught them the lesson by candle light. So I guess you could say Im having fun out here!
Anyway, Love you all very very much. Keep Praying for M.E. (Missionary Experiances) and then go out and make them happen! I know it's hard in the LDS community, but there is so much potential in all the earth for the Kingdom of God. Good luck.
Love the one AND ONLY Elder Allred, Except the other ones.
